On my monthly K-Talk show I interviewed Rob Alexander from one of the Salt Lake chapters of the Campaign for Liberty.

Rob does an excellent job of explaining why the meeting was such a big deal.  KUER (NPR) reported James Evans offered to resign, but his resignation was not accepted by the committee members.

A bigger issue was an amendment to the bylaws proposed by James Evans.  This amendment would have given Precinct Chairmen automatic delegate status for both the County and State Conventions.  This means there would be two less delegates the voters get to vote on to represent them.  Currently voters can elect the Precinct Chairmen as a delegate, but it is up to the voters.

As Rob points out the voters in his Precinct elected him as both a State and County Delegate anyway, but that was a decision made by the voters, not the party.

One person who did not receive mention in this show, but deserves a great deal of credit for alerting people to the negative implications, is Nancy Lord.  I would like to thank Nancy for her hard work and dedication.  Nancy stands for representative government.  That means government by the people, for the people.

A person who was discussed in the show is Mike Ridgway.  One caller, Anita, said she would never participate in the Utah Republican Party again after the way they treated Mike Ridgway.  I assured her what we need to do is rally together and become more active in the party, if we don’t like the direction its heading.

If we resign, that leaves the people who are in charge to do whatever they want.  We no longer have the ability to add input.  The more people who split off to the Libertarian or Constitution Party, the less power the people have.  The media does not cover the Libertarian or Constitution Party, and people who are hard core Republican are too afraid to vote for a third Party for fear a Democrat will win.

I’m absolutely positive Mike Ridgway would agree with me on this.  After all, Mike Ridgway was there at the Central Committee Meeting volunteering to fight the Evans Amendment with the rest of us.  Mike Ridgway’s not going to throw in the towel because he was wronged  by the Utah Republican Party.  He’s going to hang in there and fight for representative government to the end.  Mike Ridgway sets a good example for everyone else to follow.

Cathy from Herriman called in to express her dislike for the current Republican administration.  Cathy asks everyone to read the Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder by Vincent Bugliosi.  Vincent is the same prosecuting attorney who put Charles Manson behind bars.

Cathy also mentions the Project for a New American Century.  I recommend watching John Pilger’s documentary Breaking The Silence to see an interview with William Kristol the President of the Project for a New American Century.

Although I did not think to mention it at the time, the Project for a New American Century was mentioned as a great concern of Tom Dashyll when he was interviewed by the Eagles Forum.
